Course Tips

Some things that will help make the course a success …

Attendance

All participants, regardless of previous training experience, are highly encouraged to attend. This includes all staff members, from reception to supervisors to Physicians. In an emergency, a chain of events must take place to produce the best potential outcome for the victim. If everyone is trained to respond in the same manner, using the same “best” techniques, this will avoid any interruptions or confusion in care, and greatly increases the chances of survival.

There is a minimum number of participants to hold a course.

Accommodations

Empty waiting rooms make great classrooms. We will just need floor space for return demonstrations, chairs are optional, and tables are not needed. (Participants my want a pen). Occasionally, an outside participant may join the course. If you would prefer to not host anyone else, please let me know.

Certification Information

All course information is instructor-taught and demonstrated. The course will include training for AED (Defibrillator) CPR & Heimlich Training for the Adult, Child & Infant. Certification will be granted through Advocate BroMenn Medical Center, and will be valid for two years, from the month of the course. The fee is $2/card, payable to Advocate BroMenn.

AED Location

AED accessibility is vital to the survival of the victim. During class, we will discuss where the closest AED to your facility, is located. Schools, Gyms & many Churches own AEDs. It will be very helpful to be able to tell your staff where the closest AED can be found, therefore it may need to be located ahead of time. Please look into this if possible, even contacting neighboring businesses to ask if they have one and/or if your staff could use it.
If your facility owns an AED machine (yay!), please have it available so we can review its functions with the staff.

Start Time

As a courtesy to myself and others, please have all participants ready to begin on time.

  • Please provide at least 2hrs notice if the start time will be delayed
  • Those coming in late, or stepping in and out of class, are distracting to others and will have missed important information.
  • If someone misses more than 15min of information, they will need to register for another course.
  • The course is only offered once per setting (unless otherwise arranged)

Please understand the need for expectations to ensure a smooth, short and successful course. I will do my part to ensure the same and provide a great experience for all. All course information is instructor-taught and demonstrated.
